  • Short Fiction

  • Poetry

  • Creative Nonfiction

Submission Limits:

Each contributor is invited to submit up to three pieces total. Submitted pieces must be self-contained (i.e., each piece should stand on its own without requiring additional context).

Any genre combination is welcome. Examples of genre combinations include

  • Three short stories

  • Three poems

  • Three pieces of creative nonfiction

  • One short story, one poem, and one piece of creative nonfiction

  • Two short stories and one poem

Length/Word-Count Limits:

Submitted pieces of short fiction and creative nonfiction must fall between 150 words and 3000 words. There is no word limit for submitted poetry; however, poems exceeding 40 total lines are less likely to be considered for publication.

Content Guidelines:

Our Editorial Board encourages and welcomes diverse pieces of writing that challenge readers and defy convention. While we do not wish to censor or limit artistic expression, we ask contributing writers to consider potential sensitivities of the audience and to handle delicate topics with tact and respect.

Procedure and Deadline:

The submission window opens on July 1 and closes on August 7. Pieces submitted beyond the deadline will be discarded. Each submission must be double-spaced, using Times New Roman font, size 12.

Accepted file types: Word documents and/or PDFs.

Submissions should be emailed directly to artium@lackawanna.edu. Please include your name and phone number, and tell us the genre of your submission(s). If your piece is chosen for publication, the Editorial Board may request a short author bio and headshot.
